Hive is a circle practice in collaborative voice, rhythm and movement. There is a technical, skill-building layer; a mental-emotional attunement-building layer; and a deeper layer beyond words that can emerge when the group arrives in authentic coherence. We will practice vocals, frame drumming, and movement in chorus.. This is a space where life meets art, meets embodied prayer.
No previous singing or drumming experience is required. This is not about performance or sounding good. The practice of community music is about intention, presence, playfulness, and community care.
Spring Series Theme:
In this practice I am following the seasonal cyclical unfolding through attunement with the Honeybees, and their relationship to the Sun. The springtime carries themes of the ‘Song of Increase” as the nectar-filled landscape comes into bloom and culminates with swarm season in May.
This practice is for folks who identify as women, and non-binary folks who resonate with the Feminine Principle. I am drawing from the community music practices from my Southern Italian & Sicilian Ancestors, and also from the women’s ritual healing and threshold-keeping practices I’ve engaged on this land for 20 years.
